This month’s athlete spotlight is on Kristina Faillia. We cannot help but to admire Kristina’s tenacity for CrossFit. When Kristina comes to the gym she is all business. We often tell people that in order to get better at something you need to practice it, you will not master a skill over night and it takes time. Every time Kristina comes into the gym she is always working on progressing her pull-ups and putting in the time to improve. She is constantly surprising herself and us with her feats of strength and perseverance in WODs.
Q: Name, and tell us a little about yourself, what do you like to do outside the gym?
A: My name is Kristina Failla and I'm 23 years young. I'm a hardworking single mother of a beautiful little girl. I love spending any of my spare time with her, whether it's out at the park or just home watching a movie it's time that I truly cherish with her because she's my world.
Q: How long have you been crossfitting?
A: I started my on ramp classes in February and officially joined the crossfit cobalt team in March and I have to say these have been the best couple of months of my life because I was constantly searching for changing myself in a positive way and crossfit did just that.
Q: What is your favorite/ most memorable WOD?
A: My most memorable WOD was farewell Lorrie because I remember getting the email and literally having anxiety the night before but I showed up & completed it and did better than I expected! Mind over matter!
Favorite WOD would have to be Roo because I also thought I wasn't going to be able to do it with out dying but I enjoyed seeing the progress I've made with my endurance.
Q: What is your current Fran time? Goal time?
A: Truth be told I'm not exactly sure what my Fran time is but my goal is to get it under 7 minutes.
Q: What are your short-term goals? Long term?
A: My short term goals would have to be just keeping up with staying fit and active. My long term goal other than getting through nursing school is to be able to do a pull up with no band and get a six pack ;D
Q: What keeps you coming back day after day?
A: So not only is cobalt filled by a great bunch but I really enjoy the results I see. The coaches are also very eager to see you succeed in your goals. Everyone of them are saints.. So patient and push you to get through the work outs.. That's what keeps me coming back.
Q: What is your most memorable moment with CrossFit Cobalt?
A: My most memorable moment with cobalt was probably the islanders game @ the coliseum. I got to know a great group of people outside of the gym. Everyone is awesome, so down to earth and welcoming!
Q: What has CrossFit done for you?
A: I can honestly say crossfit has changed my life. I've realized that I can do the things that I never even dreamed of doing. It defined me as a person. I am no longer that girl full of fear and indecisiveness. When I look in the mirror I see strength.. Not only physically but mentally. Thank you crossfit cobalt!!!!
