Flex on the Beach

Flex On The Beach is back for a 4th year of amazing competition in Long Beach, NY.

Coed Teams of 4 in Rx and Scaled and Party Divisions.

Each event use our famous peer judging and rotating WOD stations to keep athletes active and involved throughout the day.

Party Division teams do the same WODs as Scaled but can use what ever weights and “standards” they want. It’s basically a division for beginners. The teams can also be any mix of gender- they don’t require a team of two men and two women.

Our mission is to provide Flex athletes with the best competition experience available anywhere on Earth. Grab 3 friends and form a team today. Let’s do this!

Official Rules and Regulations

1. Teams are given 1 point for every athlete who completes a given Open workout.

2. Teams are given 3 points for every athlete who finishes among the top 3 women or top 3 men in the gym per workout in both scaled and Rx divisions.

3. Teams are given 5 points if they win the “Spirit of the Open” award on any given week

  • Week 1 and 2: Team Spirit
  • Week 3: Support our Military
  • Week 4: Team Spirit
  • Week 5: Fundraiser

Recruitment: 

Each Captain can use any means possible to recruit team members. That means, if you haven't found a team, hold out for the best deal you can get!! 

The limit after the coaches is 15 people per team... (we will expand this if necessary)... Team Colors and names will be announced soon! REMEMBER!! You must register for The Open on games.crossfit.com to officially be a part of a team. 


The Open is Upon Us! 

This year we're going to make it a little more interesting. We will be having an in-house intramural competition! 4 teams will compete at Friday Night Lights in categories such as uniforms, team-spirit, participation and oh yeah, your scores on the Open WOD.

4 Team Captains are Lea, Jeff, Casey, and Corey. The coaching staff has been evenly drafted among teams. The rest of you are fair game for recruitment! The more team members on a team, the more chance there is for points! Captains will have until the Open begins to recruit as many team members as possible.

All Team members must register with CrossFit at games.crossfit.com to participate!

Get your speedos and bikinis ready...there's a Beach WOD this Saturday at Overlook Beach! Come down and WOD, then stay after for a day at the beach. If you have a pass to Overlook, please come to Cobalt to pick some people up. If you have a Beach Permit, please help us carry some equipment.

Meet at Cobalt at 7:30 if you need a ride. (beach permit holders are leaving at 7:30 to get on the beach and get set up so be at the gym at 7)

People Help the People was created by Hot Pilates Secret where 100% of the proceeds go directly to a deserving family in crisis.  We the people, come together to help those going through tough times.  Contributing to create a world where kindness, love and support come first.

EVENT DETAILS:
Each athlete may choose from each event they want to participate in.
Event 1: Bench Press
Event 2: Clean and jerk
Event 3: Deadlift
Event 4: Snatch
Athletes will be scored on the heaviest weight lifted in each event based on gender categories. There will be no weight classes.
Each athlete will be paired with another competing athlete at briefing  
You will get 20 mins for you and your partner to find your own 1 rep max.
Athlete sign in and briefing will begin at 9:45 am
First event will begin at 11 am

$30 for each event you choose to compete in

The Memorial Day Murph and Pig Roast is coming up fast! Spend your memorial day morning honoring this local hero, and enjoying the first day of summer Cobalt style! We will roast a pig, break out the Can-Jam and add another keg to our collection. WOD like a champion, and then relax outside with a drink and your bro's.

In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005. 

This workout was one of Mike's favorites and he'd named it "Body Armor". From here on it will be referred to as "Murph" in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is. 

Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you've got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it.

Girls Gone Rx has been organizing competitions across the United States since 2011. All of our events sell out MONTHS in advance, so please don't wait to register your team.

Your day will involve 4 team workouts. It will be fun, guaranteed! Did we mention there will be prizes! All you need is one badass team of 3 ladies.

You can all be from different gyms, don’t have to be affiliated, just come ready to have fun! We also ask if you could wear some sort of “pink” on you. Athletes wear glitter, tutu’s, have hiliarious team names, and some really outrageously fun outfits!

~ CFC BARBELL CLUB 2016 ~

Strength Training, Programming, and Coaching to help improve your form, strength, power and overall fitness. Increase not only your strength numbers, but watch your WOD times go down as well. Starting next week, the CFC Barbell Club will begin it’s first 12 week cycle of 2016. Classes will be held Monday and Wednesday night at 9PM, and Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 11AM. That’s two classes per week, making Monday and Tuesday the same class, and Wednesday and Thursday the same class.

Barbell WODs will be separate from our daily WODs and will act as a supplement to your training. With a smaller group of more experienced CrossFitters, we can experiment with various methods, modalities, and fun toys! Ever wonder what that pile of giant chains is for? or what the Yoke is really supposed to do? In Barbell Club we have the time to find out. 

Everyone is welcome to join. There is absolutely no strength requirement AT ALL. We do have a few things we ask though…

  1. You must consistently have crossfitted for at least 6 months, and have a good handle on all power lifting movements.
  2. You must be willing to keep a journal
  3. You must be able to squat below parallel
  4. You must be able to attend 2 Barbell classes a week on a consistent basis.

Other than that, just come ready to work and get strong. 

The fee for Barbell Club is $100 per cycle. That works out to just about $4 a class for strength and power training, strength and power programming and strength and power coaching. As an introductory offer, we will be giving a $25 lifetime discount to the first 8 people who sign up. Due to space and efficiency, each cycle will be capped at 15 members. Once a cycle is finished, spots will open back up for the next.

Please make sure you are serious about training and attending classes as there may not be enough slots for all who would like to participate. Contact us via email at admin@crossfitcobalt.com to reserve your spot.

It's Back!! Kelly will be holding an official Pole Dancing Class on the 6th! If you'd like to take the class, it will be $10 at the door for Kelly's instruction. If you would like to just attend Wine Down Wednesday, and not participate in the pole dancing, all are welcome to come at no charge, as usual.

Come learn some moves and have some laughs! Of course, wine and snacks wont hurt either.
