A Doctor of Physical Therapy, Level 3 Certified Crossfit Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Reiki Master, Mom of the best kid around, and a life-long athlete, Beth lives and breathes CrossFit. She is CF Level 1 Certified, CF Level 2 Certified, CF Level 3 Certified (Certified Crossfit Trainer), CF Strongman Certified, CF Mobility Certified, CF Olympic-Lifting Certified, CF Kettle Bell Certified, Freestyle Connection Movement Seminar Attendee, and is First Aid/CPR Certified. Beth competes locally whenever possible, and loves spending time getting to know CrossFit athletes throughout the NorthEast Region. 

Beth's Take on Crossfit


Joe started Crossfit in January of 2013 and was instantly hooked. He had always trained in regular gyms but there was something missing. When he found Crossfit he knew immediately it was what he was looking for. "One of the things I love most about CrossFit is that it is measurable. Tracking progress is something we all should do. It’s how we see our hard work is paying off!" Candiano has an athletic back ground, having played football and lacrosse for many years. Candiano is Crossfit Level 1 certified and a former CFC Intern and is First Aid/CPR/AED Certified.

Christine has a MA in Elementary Education and is certified in Students with Disabilities. Nutrition is an important part of her routine. As a Paleo and Macro eater she loves sharing recipes and strategies on eating clean. Malich is CF Level 1 Certified, CrossFit Gymnastics Certified, Crossfit Weightlifting Certified, and Crossfit Olympic Lifting Certified. She is also a former CFC Intern who is CPR/AED Certified, and holds an ISSA Fitness Nutrition Certification. Next to being a mother, her deepest passion CrossFit.

Jacky (known around the gym as Jacky Pants, or Miss Pants if you’re feeling fancy) is the resident gymnast at Cobalt. She was a competitive gymnast for 13 years, and has been coaching for the past 8 years; walking on her hands comes as naturally as being on two feet. Jacky stumbled upon CrossFit a little over two years ago, and was hooked from day one. The gymnastics skills always excite her, but through CrossFit she found Olympic lifting, which quickly became her favorite movements. She is CrossFit Level 1 Certified, CrossFit Gymnastics Certified, First Aid/CPR/AED Certified and has been coaching CrossFit for the past year. She loves helping and inspiring people to better themselves every day!


Richie "Roo" Speruggia, is 29 years old and originally from Orlando, FL. He started Crossfitting in the fall of 2010. Roo immediately fell in love with the different styles and techniques he learned in the first few weeks. The community of friends from CrossFit is what he loves most and keeps him coming back everyday.  His favorite WOD is Linda because it's based off of your personal body weight. His favorite movement is muscles ups because it's awesome! Roo is CrossFit Level 1 certified and a former CFC Intern and isFirst Aid/CPR/AED Certified.


Casey has her BS in Biology/Neuroscience from Stony Brook University. There she was a Chemistry teaching assistant for several years, tutored students in fields from physical sciences to foreign languages, and trained athletes in domains from running to physique competition prep. She greatly enjoys being on the instructional side of things and obtained her CrossFit Level 1 Certification to effect better performance in both herself and in other athletes. She is always happy to help athletes understand why certain exercises and movement patterns exist and how they benefit the body and its systems. She is an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer, a former coaching intern at CrossFit Queens, and is First Aid/CPR/AED Certified.



John has been a life-long athlete, and fitness enthusiast. After some serious injuries, he thought his days in the gym and being part of a team were over. He begrudgingly gave CrossFit a try, and found it was the only thing that was able to help his chronic pain and improve his quality of life. JD is Crossfit Level 1 Certified and Crossfit Scaling Certified. He looks forward to taking more certifications and helping people change their lives the way he did. He is always chatting it up around the gym, getting to know each of the members and making them feel at home. His enthusiasm for the sport, and more specifically for Crossfit Cobalt can easily be felt when JD is around.



Melissa is a college student, currently pursuing a degree in Speech Pathology. Melissa was a dancer for 15 years. Upon stopping, she realized she needed to continue with some sort of physical exercise. After being dissatisfied with the lack of results from a local gym, she decided to give CrossFit a try. Melissa immediately fell in love with CrossFit and the people within the CrossFit community. After a year of training, she decided to obtain her CF-L1 where the gained even more of a passion for the sport. Melissa enjoys being immersed in the community and plans on pursuing more certifications in the future. Melissa is currently Crossfit Level 1 Certified.


Brandon, also known as "BK" or "Brando" started crossfitting in 2015 when he was told by doctors that he was 40 lbs. under weight. So, instead of hitting up McDonalds and Taco Bell, he decided on a healthier plan. Once he tried CrossFit, he fell in love with it. Going to a globo-gym and working out alone just didn't motivate him anymore. Having a community of people, led by coaches to teach you proper form was exactly what he needed. After a year of being part of something so amazing, and learning so much, he decided to take his trainmen to the next step and become a coach. Brandon is now CF-L1 Certified.


In an effort to help those who are looking to expand their CrossFit knowledge and coaching experience (and cultivate coaches for future expansion), CrossFit Cobalt is now offering a comprehensive 4-month internship program. This program is designed to enhance a CF Level-1 Certified individual's knowledge and skill-set so that they are able to confidently and effectively teach what they have learned to CrossFit members. The first month of the program will be spent shadowing an experienced coach, gaining a greater understanding of the movements, becoming more familiar with a variety of cues and understanding how Crossfit Cobalt operates. During the next three months, there will be a transition toward more hands on learning, where the intern will take on more responsibility and lead classes, learning valuable skills such as time management and establishing a productive class environment.
